Create Your Own Birth Announcements

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

If you are an expectant parent, surely you know that your nearest and dearest are already looking forward to receiving their birth announcements after the birth of your baby. Certainly, even those fortunate enough to be present at the actual birth look forward to a formal birth announcement to memorialize the event just as much as far away friends and family do.

First, the hard (yet fun) part: choosing the right design. In the days before the Internet, there was really not much of a choice among the various birth announcement designs. The only baby announcements available came in prepackaged sets that varied pretty much only with the gender of the baby. Now, the Internet has changed all that. New mums and dads can now choose from literally hundreds of designs that not only proudly proclaim the birth of a boy or girl, but also multiple babies or an adoption. (After all, babies come in more than just a single natural birth.) Other birth announcements incorporating the personal interests of the parents are available as well. And, if there is an older child in the family, you can select birth announcements created from a sibling point of view. Regardless of the overall birth announcement theme, styles themselves vary from Victorian to funky and modern; your choice. You are limited only by your imagination.

Parents can also choose to upload a photo of their new baby to create photo birth announcements. These online photo birth announcements are a wonderful way to introduce your baby to the world; creating them is pretty easy, too. Simply select the design, upload your photo, write your text, and proceed to checkout. That is all there is to it.\That is it. Your loved ones will meet your new baby with a copy of one of the very first photos.

Parents who are so inclined can feel good about sending customized birth announcements that are made with 100 percent post consumer recycled paper. Who wants to tack an emailed birth announcement to their refrigerator, anyway. Birth announcements made from recycled materials leave a much smaller footprint on the earth than those made from brand new card stock.

So, what do you think. What fun it would be for you, as an expectant parent, to design your own birth announcements while you await the birth of your baby. The excitement builds.

All About Birth Announcements

Birth announcements are such fun to send and to receive. It is not hard to understand how eager new parents are to share their joy with the world after their baby is born. Customized birth announcements can do the job nicely.

At one time, new births were shared with prepackaged, preprinted birth announcements that came only in limited style choices. They were lovely enough, to be sure, but not very unique. Parents now have the option of either using the traditional preprinted birth announcement when their baby is born or selecting from the literally hundreds of birth announcement designs that are available online.

Birth announcements etiquette dictates that formal announcements be sent to family and friends by regular mail, not email. After all, who wants to hang an email message on their refrigerator. Birth announcements should go to family and close friends and friends of the happy grandparents and to anyone who has already sent a gift to the new parents.

The information on birth announcements should include, at minimum, the names of the baby and proud parents and siblings (if any) and baby birth statistics like length, weight and birth date. Etiquette also dictates that birth announcements be sent any time up to six months following birth, so you will have time after your baby arrives to finalize and send them out. You will save yourself a little work, though, if you choose your birth announcements design ahead of time, while you still have the time. Choosing your design will only add to the excitement and anticipation.

You can select your birth announcements one of two ways: choose and purchase blank announcements prior to the birth and finalize them afterwards, or choose the design ahead of time and finalize them online after the birth. Either way, you will be able to choose your birth announcements from traditional, Victorian or hip and modern style selections. You can add a photo of your newborn to your birth announcements as well. There are also selections that reflect the interests of the parents, like a favorite sport or activity, and some with a sibling theme. Multiple births are no problem; plenty of designs are available that announce the arrival of several new family members. Adoptions have their own special birth announcements design.

Your birth announcements can be as unique as you are. The fun is in the choosing.
